Ernestine was eight years old when I was born, the second of six stair-step children.
I remember Ernestine as a teenage girl baby sitting for us kids. She probably changed my diaper. She was, even as a young woman; responsible, energetic and fun loving.
I wish I had made more time to get to know her better later in life.
Her generation suffered through times most of us can only imagine. Their sacrifices built this great country that we take for granted. From very humble beginnings, she and her siblings blessed the lives of us all. May God welcome her into his loving arms.
