Erlene Sadler Blackstone's Obituary
PERRY –
Erlene Sadler Blackstone, 88, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021. Graveside Services will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in Woodlawn Cemetery with Reverend Fred McCoy officiating. Anyone is welcome to attend. However, due to the national pandemic, please wear a mask for the protection of everyone there. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Houston Lake Baptist Church, 2300 GA Hwy 127, Perry, GA 31069.
Erlene was born in Bainbridge, Georgia, to the late Frank and Willie Mae Ansley Sadler. She was one of fifteen children raised on the family farm in South Georgia. When Erlene was just a teenager, her father passed away unexpectedly, and she took on many of the household responsibilities and helped care for her younger siblings, as well. Those circumstances as a young lady allowed Erlene to grow into a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family, and spending time with them filled her with joy. Mrs. Erlene enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, and would often prepare meals to share with those recovering from illness or surgery, those who had fallen on hard times, or just because it was what she wanted to do. She loved flowers and was often delighted by the various and numerous birds that visited her bird feeders. During the last few years of her life, Mrs. Erlene was blessed and content to be loved and cared for by others, just as she had enjoyed doing for others throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving and devoted husband, Richard Lemuel Blackstone; seven brothers; six sisters; and her son, Lewis Blackstone.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Mrs. Erlene are her devoted daughter, Leverne Lasseter (Lee) of Perry; her grandchildren, Amie Blackstone, Jeremy Gray (Laura), and Sam Blackstone (Bess); five great-grandchildren; her brother, Wendell Sadler; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
