Elizabeth 'Betty' Skorogod's Obituary

Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Boyd Skorogod, age 80, of Perry Georgia, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2014. She was preceded in death by her father, Ivan W. Boyd; her mother, Laura G. Symes Boyd; and her husband, Nickolas J. Skorogod. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Peal DePaola of Monroe, Georgia; her son and daughter-in-law, Douglas W. and Teresa A. Peal of Cincinnati, Ohio; and her son and daughter-in-law, David W. and Becky L. Peal of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Born in Toronto, York County, Ontario, Canada, on June 25, 1934, Betty was a Registered Nurse having trained from 1952-1955 at Wellesley School of Nursing, a division of Toronto General Hospital. Since her move to Perry in 2006, Betty was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church and an active "faircracker" volunteering and later employed at the annual Georgia National Fair. In addition, her many passions included volunteering at Loaves & Fishes-South, working the political elections, and supporting various other causes. In her honor, a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Crossroads United Methodist Church, Perry, Georgia. The family respectfully requests only bright-colored clothing as this is a celebration of life. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Crossroads United Methodist Church, Loaves & Fishes-South, Abba House, Visiting Angels-Warner Robins, or the charity of your choice.
