Elizabeth Short Chapman's Obituary

Elizabeth Short Chapman, 93, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery. Reverend Roland Fall will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Perry United Methodist Church, 1002 Carroll Street, Perry, GA 31069 or Perry Historical Society, 901 Northside Drive, Perry, GA 31069.
Mrs. Chapman was a lifelong resident of Houston County and was the daughter of the late James Harper and Maggie Edwards Short. Mrs. Chapman attended Huntington College in Montgomery, AL. She served in World War II in the WAC (Women's Army Corp). She was a bookkeeper for Chapman Ford Tractor Company. She was a member of the Sorrelle Club of Perry and enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends. She was a long-time member of Perry United Methodist Church, the Howell Cobb Sunday School Class, and the United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her twin brother, James Short; her brother, Wesley Short; and her sister, Marjorie Short Zerko.
Left to cherish the memories of Mrs. Chapman are her loving husband of 67 years, Harris Chapman of Perry; her children, Ken Chapman (Susan) of Brookhaven, Mississippi, Wayne Chapman (Yvonne) of Perry, and Jim Chapman (Paula) of Germantown, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Jim Chapman (Bonnie), Beth Chapman Simmons (Byron), Todd Chapman (Brennan), and Clay Chapman (Keri); three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
