Elizabeth 'Betty' Ann Croom's Obituary
PERRY- Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Hale Croom, 89, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018. The family will visit with friends on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary at Perry Presbyterian Church with the Funeral Service immediately following at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Perry Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Thornwell Home for Children, Post Office Box 60, Clinton, SC 29325 or FOPAS – Friends of Perry Animal Shelter, Kellwood Drive, Perry, GA 31069. Betty was born in Warrenton, Georgia, to the late Paul Hampton and Nell Booker Hale. She graduated from Warren County High School in 1946 and Middle Georgia School of Nursing in Macon in 1948. She married and the couple lived in Panama City, Florida before moving to Perry in 1951. Betty began working at the offices and clinic of Dr. J.L. Gallemore in Perry, helping to usher newborns into the world for many years. She also worked at several local hospitals. When Dr. Gallemore retired, Betty began working as Nurse Coordinator for Hospice of Houston County. Betty was a nurturing and loving soul to all those with whom she came in contact. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 46 years, Harold Albert “Hal” Croom, and granddaughter, Ashley Lynn Croom. Left to cherish the memories of Betty are her children, Claudia Moller(Paul) of Augusta, Elizabeth Williford (Robert) of Hayneville, Hale Croom (Robin) of New Bern, NC, John Croom (Joni) of Kathleen, and Thomas Croom of Daphne, AL; twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Gay and Ruth Croom; and several nieces and nephews.
