ELAINE BASS KEMP's Obituary
PERRY –
Elaine Bass Kemp, 73, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 7, 2024, after a brief illness. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to FOPAS, Friends of Perry Animal Shelter, 204 Kellwood Drive, Perry, GA 31069.
Elaine was born in Fort Valley to the late Sherman and Willa Ruth Lee Bass. In 1978, she moved to Houston, Texas, where she proudly worked for NASA at Johnson Space Center as an Administrative Assistant to the Mission Commander for over thirty years. She dearly loved “her astronauts” and treated them like family. After retirement, she moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee, to be near her sister. The three sisters were best friends and enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas, Biloxi, and Cherokee, spending quality time together. Elaine had a huge place in her heart for abandoned animals and volunteered at a rescue center in the Chattanooga area. When Elaine found herself the last surviving sister, she moved to Perry in 2023 to be near her remaining family who loved and cared for her in her final days.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved sisters, Patricia Ann Bass and Barbara Bass Brogan; and her precious rescue dog, Dandy.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Elaine are her nephews, Tony Brown (Amy) of Cochran, and Ricky Brown (Cyndi) of Jackson; her great-nephews and great-nieces, Corey Brown (Anett), Amanda Ryan (Josh), Adriene Nobles (Evan), Katelyn Brown, Brittney Brown, Wesley Brown, and Tyler Griffith (April); numerous great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and her precious mini schih tzu, Sadie.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
