Edmund Walter McKean Jr.'s Obituary
Edmund Walter McKean Jr., age 73, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL passed away at his home on Monday, February 16, 2015. Visitation will be held at Serenity Funeral Home on Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 5 pm until 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 11 am.Walter was born on December 7, 1941 to Edmund W. and Louise B. McKean. After graduating from McGill Institute in 1959, he attended the University of Alabama where he received a Bachelor's degree in Accounting in 1962. He soon became CPA certified in 1966 and established McKean & Associates in 1974 where he devoted 37 years of service before retiring in 2011. Walter was best known for his love of Alabama football and spending time at Venture Out in Panama City Beach, FL with his family. He was a man who generously gave of himself to others and contributed countless hours volunteering at Little Sisters of the Poor. Mr. McKean was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Catherine and Gerald McKean. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janette F. McKean; children Scott (Pauline) McKean of Mobile, Karla (Bobby) Kahn of Mobile, Wesley (Deirdra) McKean of Woodstock, GA, Kelly McKean of London, England, Sean McKean of San Francisco, CA; 13 grandchildren; 6 brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
