A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. followed by a Visitation and Reception celebrating Earl’s life. Anyone wishing to share special memories and fun times spent with Earl will be given an opportunity to do so at the reception. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donors plant a tree in memory of Earl remembering his love and talent for working with raw wood.
Earl was born on January 30, 1954, to the late John Paul and Kathleen Dean. He and his late twin sister, Erlene, were the youngest of their 10 siblings and were the first twins born in the Americus, Georgia, hospital. Earl grew up in south Houston County and was a Perry High School graduate in the Class of 1972. After graduation, he began a career at Penn Dixie cement company, later known as Medusa then Southdown, and currently Cemex. During his tenure in the mining industry, he took advantage of every opportunity to learn from his co-workers and supervisors. Earl loved learning new skills and loved being able to help others by sharing his skills through lending a helping hand or teaching someone a lesson he had already learned. He retired as a Lead Repairman after over forty years with the company. Among his many skills and talents, his true passion was working with wood. He spent many hours milling wood at his wood miser. Taking a raw material and creating beautiful projects and building special treasures gave him great joy. Earl possessed numerous qualities and attributes that also created his character. Among these traits, generosity will remain the most notable of all. Earl believed in sharing his blessings with everyone he met, being able to provide for his family, and allowing family members various opportunities to develop their passions and hobbies. Adding rich experiences to their lives absolutely delighted him.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Roland Dean, Wallace and Bobbie Dean, Gloria Dean, Steve Dean, William Dean, Malcolm and Carolyn Dean, and his twin, Erlene Dean Thornton; and a son-in-law, Sean Oram.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Earl are his loving and devoted wife of forty-five years, Pam McClintic Dean; his children, Cathy Dean of Warner Robins, and Tommy Dean (Leslee), Nikki Oram, and Macy Forehand (Jayson), all of Perry; his grandchildren, Logan Locke, Tee Dean, Ryder Dean, Bentley Oram, Channing Oram, Elsie Oram, Frankie Oram, Peyton Forehand, and Stevie Forehand; his brother, Charlie Dean; his sister, Earnestine Hurley (Chuck); his sister-in-law, Betty Ann Dean; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
