HENDERSON –
Dwayne Glenn Langston, 55, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, after an extended illness. Services will be held on Monday, September30, 2024, at Henderson Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., and the funeral will begin at 12 Noon. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Perry. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Henderson Baptist Church, 2813 US Hwy 41 S, Elko, GA 31025.
Dwayne was born in Americus, Georgia, on July 24, 1969. A lifelong resident of Henderson, he graduated from The Westfield School in the Class of 1987. He earned a Certificate in Welding from South Georgia Technical School but returned full-time to the passion in his life – farming with his daddy. Dwayne farmed a variety, but particularly enjoyed pecans and chickens, having owned several chicken houses through the years. Dwayne loved the Lord and was an active member of Henderson Baptist Church. He was a constant example for young church members and people everywhere with his faith, kindness, and generosity. He spent time volunteering at the Henderson Fire Department for many years, serving his community who were often family or close friends. He was a member of the Houston County Young Farmers Association and was an avid participant, always supporting and encouraging other young farmers like him. Dwayne loved to sing and would occasionally sing a solo at church, especially in his younger years. He also enjoyed singing karaoke with family and friends who will always remember his special renditions of “Long Black Train” by Josh Turner. Any recordings of Dwayne singing would absolutely be a precious gift to his family and would be greatly appreciated.
Dwayne was preceded in death by a niece, Peyton Langston.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Dwayne are his loving and devoted parents, Anne C. and Fred Langston, Jr. of Henderson; his brother and sister-in-law, Chip and Hope Langston of Americus; his sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Matt Forehand of Americus; his nieces and nephews, Walker Langston (Dalice Martin), Caroline Langston (T.J. Walker), Maci Forehand, and Luke Forehand; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The family is thankful for all the love and support shown to Dwayne and the family throughout his illness and during this time.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
