Dumas McLaney's Obituary
Age 82, a native of Chancellor, AL and a longtime resident of Mobile, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from Mobile Gas after 28 years of service. He was citizen of the year in 2014 for the Southwest Mobile County Chamber of Commerce. He was also very active in the senior community, including starting a dance with his band “County Line Band of Mobile” He was always an advocate for his community and did so much to help others. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and May Bell McLaney, 2 sisters, Blanche Dean, Marie Powers, and 2 brothers, Folsom and Barney McLaney. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Delores, son Wayne (Ann) McLaney, 2 grandchildren, Scott (Toni Moberg) McLaney, Ashley (Gill Johnson) McLaney, brothers, Ralph and Reginald McLaney, nieces, including special niece, Bobbie McLaney and special great niece, Sauna Walley, nephews, other relatives and many friends, including special friends, Tommy and Dee DeMouy, Jerry and Ruth Huber, Tressa Lewis, and Della Wade. Visitation will be Thursday, July 14, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm, with funeral on Friday, July 15, 2015 at 10 am, all from Serenity Funeral Home. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens. The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to the staff of Spring Hill Hospice and his oncologist, Sherri Arledge with Southern Cancer Center for all the excellent care he was given.
