DOROTHY 'DOT' BODREY FLYNN's Obituary
Dorothy “Dot” Bodrey Flynn, 70, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 27, 2018, after a brief illness. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 30, 2018, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Second Memorial Baptist Church. Interment will be in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. Dot was born and grew up in Unadilla. She graduated from Unadilla High School, South Georgia Technical School, and attended Macon College. She worked as a machinist at Brown and Williamson and retired after about 20 years of service. She was a Lifetime Member of the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Macon and enjoyed frequent visits there to see the new exhibits and soak up the wealth of knowledge within the museum. While still maintaining part of her parents’ old homeplace in Dooly County all these years, Dot loved to raise animals and grow plants, vegetables, and flowers, and took pride to share it all with her family and friends. She enjoyed people, whether she knew them or not. Dot treasured the time spent with her family, whom she loved dearly, especially those times when she and her sisters would take adventures together in a motor home. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry and Hettie Wisham Bodrey; her loving husband, Joseph A. Flynn, Jr.; her daughter, Cheryl Chatham; and two sisters, Irene Yancey and Hattie Cole. Survivors include her sons, Gene Chatham of Kathleen, and Willie Chatham (Catherine) of Clemmons, NC; nine grandchildren; her siblings, Eva Dennard of Unadilla, Rosa Horne of Montezuma, Minnie Peavy of Montezuma, William Bodrey (Patricia) of Unadilla, Helen Reynolds of Perry, Shirly Hammock of Perry, and Betty Douglas (Bruce) of Elko; and many, many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is the father of her children, Doug Chatham. Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
