DORIS ALLEN GOETZ's Obituary
PERRY –
Doris Allen Goetz, 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 27, 2023. Services will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023, at Crossroads United Methodist Church. The Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., and the Funeral will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Grant Abernathy and Reverend Leland Collins officiating. Entombment will be in the Good Shepherd Mausoleum in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.
Doris was born in Vienna to the late William and Mattiezue Williams Allen. She grew up in Vienna and graduated from Vienna High School in 1958. Upon graduation, she accepted a position with the phone company, Bellsouth, then worked for a time as a seamstress at a textile mill until her duties as a wife and mother began to consume her days. Doris married the love of her life, Kenneth Goetz, and was a homemaker all of her life. She continuously worked hard to create a loving and welcoming home in which they would raise their children. She eventually began keeping children for family and friends, as well, especially during the summers when kids were out of school. Mrs. Doris was a long-time member of Crossroads United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School to four- and five-year-olds for over twenty-five years. Later in life, she was a member of the Searchers Adult Sunday School Class alongside her husband.
Mrs. Doris was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Lamar Goetz, and a brother, Walter Allen.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Mrs. Doris are her loving and devoted husband of fifty-five years, Kenneth Goetz of Perry; her children, Ken Goetz (Lynn) of Tampa, FL, April Barrentine (Greg) of Gray, GA, and Randall Goetz (Shelby) of Cochran; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; her brother, Larry Allen (June) of Byromville; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
