DONNIE WAYNE BRACKETT's Obituary
PERRY – Donnie Wayne Brackett, 74, of Perry, Georgia passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 10, 2023, after a lengthy illness. Services will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jordan Kersey officiating. Donnie was born on February 3, 1949, in Keener, Alabama, to the late Elmus Hamby Brackett and Opal Moroney Brackett. He moved to Perry, Georgia, in the mid-1960’s when his father took a civil service job at Robins Air Force Base. Lovingly nicknamed “the Beav” by his parents and siblings, he was always into mischief, just as Beaver was on the old tv show, “Leave it to Beaver.” In his younger years, Donnie loved hunting and fishing. He was an avid gun collector and enjoyed keeping them all clean and polished. Donnie loved Nascar and could be found on Sundays drinking an ice-cold Pepsi, rooting for his favorite driver, #24 Jeff Gordon, before he retired from racing. Donnie worked at Medusa Cement Corp. and retired after ten years of service.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Elmus and Opal Brackett; his sister, Vickie Brackett; and his brother, Bobby Brackett.
Left to cherish his memories are the mother of his children, Sue Horne Brackett; his daughters, Donna Kinnas Sharp (Bill), Kimberly B. Kitchens (Jeff), both of Perry; his grandchildren, Taylor Sledge of Perry, Dylan Jolley of Washington D.C., and John Kinnas (Anna) of Forsyth; his great-grandchildren, Mason McClintic, Cason Sledge, and Sutton Kinnas; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to Taylor Regional Hospital and Gentiva Hospice who assisted in caring for Donnie during his final days.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
