PERRY –
Donald Alan “Don” Golder, 95, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 2, 2023. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Perry United Methodist with interment following in Perry Memorial Gardens. Reverend Tom Carruth, Reverend Jordon Kersey, and Reverend Tommy Perkins will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the Perry United Methodist Church, 1002 Carroll St, Perry, GA 31069 or The Methodist Home for Children and Youth, located at 304 Pierce Ave, Macon, GA 31204.
Mr. Golder was born in Stillwater, PA, and was the son of the late Bertie Otis and Mary Stewart Golder and had lived in Perry since 1968. Don moved to Perry as a supervisor when Magee Carpet Company was started and worked there until it closed. After that he worked at Bibb Manufacturing Company until it closed. He was a faithful and loyal member of Perry United Methodist Church for 55 years and was in the IHS Sunday School Class. If you drove down Tucker, you could see Don riding his lawnmower cutting his grass at his age. He loved gardening, working in the yard, woodworking, and making ice cream for the family. A past president of the Civitan Club, he was 50 year Mason and Scottish Rite.
Don is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 71 years, Nancy Golder; two children, Lorie Gibson (Gary) of Perry and Richard Alan Golder (Gwen) of Winder; grandchildren, Jared Gibson (Sarah) of Perry and Megan Caldwell (Adam) of Covington, Donnie Golder (Tina); great grandchildren, Oliver and Isobel Caldwell and Dominique Golder. He was preceded in death by a son, Tyler Golder, and three sisters.
