DANVILLE-Diane Abbott Neal, 78, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016. Visitation will be on Monday, July 18, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m., both at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry. Those wishing may choose to make contributions in Mrs. Neal's memory to a favorite charity. Mrs. Neal was born in Hollywood, California, to the late Edward and Marietta Hall Abbott. Upon graduation from high school, she earned a degree as a Registered Nurse at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. Shortly thereafter, she married the love of her life, Billy Rollings Neal. With her husband a freight airline pilot moving the family around the country, Mrs. Neal worked in various locations as a nurse. After the couple made their home in Danville, the final position in her career of over 40 years was at Cochran Hospital. Through the years and with every move, Mrs. Neal's passions in life were being a mother, a grandmother, and a nurse. She was a Presbyterian. She was preceded in death by her twin sister at birth and by her parents.Left to cherish the memories of Mrs. Neal are her loving husband of 53 years, Billy Neal of Danville; her children, Sandra Neal (Godinez Ruben) of Texas, George Neal (Cindy) of Elko, Edward Neal of Tennessee, and Kathy Neal of Kathleen; her brother, Jim Abbott (Yolanda) of Florida; her sister, Linda Abbott Cobb of Kansas; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren who affectionately called her "Granny"; and several nieces and nephews.
