DAVIS COSEY's Obituary
Davis L. Cosey, 70, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2022. Private Graveside Services will be held in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to FOPAS, Friends of Perry Animal Shelter, P. O. Box 2001, Perry, GA 31069.
A lifelong resident of Perry, Davis graduated from Darlington School in 1970 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology with a Minor in Psychology from West Georgia College. In 1979, he joined the family business, Davis Company, became CEO, and successfully guided the company through the next forty-two years. He served on the Wholesale Council for Shell Oil and for Chevron, and was a Director of Georgia Oilmen’s Association where he also served as Chairman of the Board. Davis was very actively involved in his community, serving on the Board of Directors at Persons Banking Company and participating in many events with the Chamber of Commerce. His great passion for animals led him to create FOPAS, Friends of Perry Animal Shelter, which saved and continues to save the lives of countless animals since its inception. Davis served on the Board of Fix GA Pets and numerous other organizations with similar missions. He loved watching golf, watching NASCAR, and going to NASCAR races. He was a long-time supporter of Dixie Davis Cookers and was a member of Perry United Methodist Church.
Davis was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Cosey; his parents, Bill and Billie Sexton; and a brother, Jim Sexton.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Cosey of Perry; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Mayo and Jeannie Sexton and Colton and Thelma Sexton, all of Perry; his sister-in-law, Vickie Sexton of Perry; his nieces and nephews Will Sexton (Kelly), Blair Greene (Ernest), Nola Taunton (Andrew), Hunt Sexton (Laura), Lee Anne Ulrich (Preston), Smyth Moore (Matt), and Sam Sexton (Mary Leigh); many great-nieces and great-nephews; and his goddaughter, Anne Neal “Georgia” Thompson of Clayton.
