David Platt Mills' Obituary
David Platt Mills, 90, of Perry, joined his wife, Emily Mills to celebrate his birthday in heaven, Friday, June 2, 2017. He passed away two days before his 91st birthday. Visitation will be held in the chapel at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home on Monday, June 5, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Graveside Service will be held at the Sunrise Chapel Mausoleum at Arlington Memorial Park in Atlanta on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice In Memory of David. David was born in Mobile, Alabama to the late Charles and Emma Platt Mills. He was married to the love of his life, Emily Turner Mills, for nearly 71 years. They made their home in the Sandy Springs area of Atlanta for most of their life, before moving to Perry. Mr. Mills proudly served his country in World War II with the Merchant Marines, a division of the U.S. Coast Guard. He was an international banker by trade, working for the Trust Company of Georgia, now SunTrust Bank, from which he retired. His career allowed him to travel the world and experience life to the fullest. David and Emily were blessed to spend the winter months at their second home in Fort Myers, where he enjoyed playing golf. He called it an honor to be a Lifetime Member of the Atlanta Athletic Club. David was preceded in death by his loving wife, Emily; daughter in-law, Susan McClung Mills; his brothers, C.W., Richard, and Kurtz. Left to cherish the memories of David are his children, David Mills (Ann), Roger Mills, and Doug Mills (Georgia); Pompaw's grandchildren, Rusty Mills (Stacey), Andy Mills, Alex Mills, Roger Mills Jr.(Erin), and Cynthia Long (Michael); great grandchildren, Anastacia, Priscilla (Tyler), Taylor Logan, Little David, Cody, Jack, Hudson, Carrington, Ella, and Addison; and 2 great-great grandchildren, Addison and Jaxson.
