FITZGERALD -David Cletus Meyer, 63, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 21, 2017. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, in Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile, Alabama, where he will be buried alongside his parents. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to PKD Foundation for Polycystic Kidney Disease at www.pkdcure.org.David was born in Dayton, OH, and his family soon moved to Mobile, AL, the hometown of his father's family, where he spent his childhood. When David was 13 years old, his family moved to Perry, GA, where he attended and graduated from Perry High School. While at PHS, David was a standout athlete in football, basketball, and golf. He also worked hard and became an Eagle Scout. David then attended The University of Georgia and received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Following college, he started working in the restaurant industry and ended up owning and operating a restaurant in a golf resort community. David loved his family, golf, and making people laugh. He even loved writing his own jokes! Left to cherish the memories of David are his daughters, Heather Meyer Ward (Joe) of Los Angeles, California, and Stephany Meyer Darden (Samm) of Roswell; his grandchildren, Presley Ward, Ethan Ward, and Claire Judy Darden; his siblings, Kathy Meyer Cleary (Jim) of Plano, Texas, Reid Meyer (Michele) of Newnan, and Ellen Meyer Bunker (Dell) of Macon; and several nieces and nephews.Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com.
