David Allen Hodges' Obituary
Age 64, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. David was born in Irvington, AL to his loving parents, Allen D. Hodges and Rose A. Van Houten Hodges. After a very long battle with cancer our Heavenly Father called David home to rest. David was surrounded by his loved ones at home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen D. and Rose A. VanHouten Hodges, brother, Claude D. Hodges. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Victoria, sons, George (Melissa), Danny (Cali) and Brandon (Channa), 7 grandchildren who were the love of his life, Trevor, Taylor, Garrett, Hunter, Tyler, Kole and Lindley, loving mother-in-law, Elizabeth Taylor, brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Debbie Taylor, sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Kevin French, cousins, Mildred Hudson and Family, Myrna Campbell and Family, Joan Gathings and Family, brother, Dale M. Hodges, nieces, nephews, other relatives, his loving and devoted lifelong friends, Lendon (Sharon) Elmore, Lane and Hunter Elmore, multiple friends, Mary Helen Rhodes, Chuck and Carol Ann Weston, many friends, devoted dog and companion of 12 years, Pancake. David was a kind soul with a gentle soft voice and a smile that would make anyone he met love him dearly. David had a passion for airplanes, flying and skydiving as a young man. He loved clocks, animals, his elders, watch repair, going outside and watching nature. David loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, family friends and life. He cherished the gift of life. A very special Thank You to First Baptist Church of BLB all of the Church family, Pastor Jeremy Smalley, Pastor Clint Landry, Chaplain Morgain Taylor, doctors and staff at the Mitchell Cancer Center. The loving care and support from Springhill Home Health and Hospice Debbie, Cynthia, Chaplain Billy and Thank You to Dr. Damian Collins. David loved you all and the Loving care you showed and gave to him. May you rest in Heaven my love. Funeral service will be held at Serenity Funeral Home on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 2pm with visitation from 12 noon until service time. Interment will be in Oddfellow Cemetery.
