DAISY DOTSON's Obituary
PERRY, GA –
Daisy Mae Blackstone Dotson passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, April 8, 2023, just a month before her 100th birthday. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in Perry Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Agape Hospice Care Group, 645 Tallulah Trail, Suite 202, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
Daisy was born in Paris, Kentucky, to the late John and Virgie Ours Blackstone. She met the love of her life, Catesby “Case” Dotson, when she was walking to high school. He started driving her to school, they soon began dating, and the rest, as they say, was history. The couple married and lived in Kentucky for a while, and Daisy worked for Southern Bell. When Catesby was transferred to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, they moved to Dayton, Ohio, where Daisy worked with Civil Service as a telephone switchboard operator. In 1962, Catesby was relocated to Robins Air Force Base, and the couple moved to Perry, Georgia. Daisy worked as a bookkeeper and eventually retired.
For most of her life, Mrs. Daisy drank black coffee and always kept a clean house. She enjoyed cooking, was an excellent cook, and loved making fudge, beef stew, and sausage fruitcake, among other special recipes, for her family and friends. Daisy and Catesby loved and were huge supporters of Perry Country Club through the years. She frequently played cards for over forty years and socialized quite regularly with her friends. Although she lived in Ohio and Georgia for many years, Daisy was always thankful for her heritage and proud to be from rural Kentucky.
Mrs. Daisy was preceded in death by eight siblings, her loving and devoted husband of seventy-two years, Catesby Orr Dotson; and her son-in-law, Bob Gordon.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Mrs. Daisy are her caring and dedicated daughters, Lynn Gordon of The Villages, Florida, and Bobbie Mizell of Perry; her grandchildren, Susan White (Robert) of Lakeland, Florida, Robert Opatrny (Catherine) of Plymouth, Michigan, Anita Krish of Jackson, Michigan, Brian Mizell of Perry, and Amanda Scott (Andrew) of Perry; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
