He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Smith Roensch; son, Curtis Roy Roensch, Jr; grandson, Wade Roensch; step-mother, Mary Ann Lycka Roensch; and brother, Vastine Roensch. He is survived by his daughter, Iris (Paul) Brown; three granddaughters: Tracy (Matthew) Schmerbauch, Victoria Roensch, and Jamie (Damian) Bosarge; three grandsons: Curtis Roy Roensch, III, Stephen Roensch, and Cris Rock; three great-grandchildren: Jackson Bosarge, Emily Bosarge, and Carter Bosarge; two sisters: Mary Jane (Richard) Henning and Judy (Robert) Buchanek; and two brothers C.J. For many years, before and after his retirement, he operated a sporting goods repair business in a workshop at his home. He truly enjoyed meeting and talking to people as he would repair their rods and reels. He enjoyed fishing with his family and friends, especially with his buddy, Johnny Strickler. He also enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking. He would bless his family and friends with his delicious pecan pies, often baking over a hundred pies during the holiday season. After his illness forced him to a less active life in a nursing home he kept busy doing jigsaw puzzles, decorating his walls with dozens of pictures. Curtis took great joy in his family. He was a warm and loving husband, father, and grandfather. All who knew him were touched by his kind and generous spirit. He was a member of The First Evangelical Methodist Church in Irvington, AL. He loved his Lord with a faith that never wavered, even throughout his long illness. We rejoice that he can now rest in His loving presence. Funeral services will be held at The First Evangelical Methodist Church, Irvington, AL on March 15, 2014 at 12:00 Noon. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the staff of the Grand Bay Convalescent Home for their loving care of Mr. Roensch.
