Dr Curtis Borne served as my advisor from 2017-2021. He was so loving and passionate about agriculture and FFA. He encouraged me to do my best and to work hard on overcoming my challenges. I loved to facilitate his students so that they could learn and be a better version of themselves. He will be truly missed. He lives on through all this students’ memories. Rest in paradise Dr Borne.
Brunella, I'm truly sorry about Curtis. (Or CJ as we called as kids) I'm very proud of the accomplishments that he made in his life. He truly was a remarkable man. Thank you for being the friend and wife that he needed and especially for your care in his last days. I'm Curtis' first cousin. My mom, Hilda and Aunt B, were sisters. Take care of yourself and best wishes especially in the coming days and months ahead. 💔❤️
Dr. Borne was a beloved professor of Agricultural Education at Fort Valley State University, where he devoted his career to preparing high school and middle school AgEd teachers. He was also a supporter of Agricultural Education at the state and national levels. I had the privilege of working with Curtis occasionally during his years in teacher education. Curtis deeply understood the importance of education in agriculture, especially the leadership skills cultivated through the FFA. His commitment and passion for shaping future educators left a lasting impact. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his students, who continue to pass on his wisdom and passion to their students. Farewell, my friend. Your contributions to Agricultural Education will not be forgotten.
On behalf of the Rayne High School Class of 1969, I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the family of Curtis Borne. My husband Keith and I were not only 1969 classmates of Curtis, but we were also colleagues at Rayne High School for 15 years. He was a wonderful Ag Teacher and mentored many students in Rayne during that time. May his soul rest in peace and may his family be comforted in God's gracious love.

I’m so sorry for the passing of Mr. Borne. He was my home room teacher at RHS in the 70’s. He was a very kind man who always has a big smile on his face. Sending big hugs and prayers to his dear family.
Mr. Borne was always one of my favorite teachers. I learned so much about plants and soils by serving on his FFA judging teams.

And what a remarkable legacy Curtis is leaving as a teacher, mentor, and leader in his position at the university. I have fond memories of you both from our days at USL. I was not aware that you were in Georgia. I have searched for you both now and then over the years but somehow could not find you til now. (I’ve lived away from Louisiana since the early ‘70s.)
