I stopped by the House of 10,000 picture frames to find it closed and dark. I went next door to ask about Mr. Ray, only to learn that Mr. Ray had passed away. I felt so sad. The memory I have of him is walking into his shop, seeing his smiling face. He would ask me if he could help me. I would reply I just came in to look at pictures to help get rid of the stress. Mr. Ray would say take as long as you like. I usually walk out with a purchase. I will remember Mr. Ray when I look at the beautiful pictures framed by him that are on my walls in my home. Belated condolences to the Bragg family. I knew Ray as I was a customer of Frames & Things in Perry. He always did an expert job, was patient as I made my choices, took the time to make sure the result was "perfect". I was sad when he moved to Florida. He was a lovely soul and I know his family will miss him.

Ray was a dear friend to me and our Happy Hearts Club group. The other men at church sometimes teased him about us ladies "just using him", but he said he enjoyed every minute of our times together. Ray was so sweet to invite us to breakfast at his house on our way to a girl's trip to Florida one time and to chauffeur us around on our outings. He was always offering to help us in any way he could, and in turn, he knew we were there for him also. He was a true southern gentleman who is loved and missed by everyone whose life he touched. Love you, my friend! See you again one day!

Ray was one of only a few men I have known who would tell me they loved me and I knew he meant it. I always enjoyed his great smile and the wonderful encouragement he offered me. With Ray gone, there is certainly less love in this world.

Mr. Ray was a close friend to my mother Cheryl Hendrix Sires. They were in the "Happy Hearts Club" together! Mr. Ray went on many adventures with them! He was a very kind man. He framed my wedding bouquet for me. My mother passed away in November and I am certain that she was there welcoming him home! Know that my family will pray for you all.

Ray wrote letters to share his ideas and feelings with others. That is how we first became acquainted. Later, as members of the "Happy Hearts," we traveled in the Happy Hearts' van, camped at High Falls, shared meals with our friends, and prayed together as much as possible. Some use words to say that they care. Others demonstrate their love through their actions. Ray did both. Until later, my friend, when the Happy Hearts will reunite to praise the One who brought us together.

Ray will always be remembered by me as the only male founding member of the "Happy Hearts" club. He truly cared for the members of the ladies in the group. We have all lost a friend.

I had spoken to Ray a few month's ago about the death of a very close friend of ours in the "Happy Hearts" group we were all in. He hated he could not attend the funeral because of health concerns and I could feel the sadness in his voice because he thought he was letting us down and I then assured him he was not. He was the "realest" person I had ever known and took care of all of us, even me! I will always remember Ray and will still call him the "Gentle Giant".
