Claud Joseph Walker's Obituary

Claud Joseph Walker, 96, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2015. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. Interment will be in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. The family will begin receiving friends at 5:00 p.m. and visit until the service begins at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Heart of Georgia Hospice Inpatient Unit, 1120 Morningside Drive, Perry, Georgia 31069.
Mr. Walker was born in Parsons,Kansas. He grew up on a farm. During WWII he served in the 636 Tank Destroyer Battalion of the U.S. Army in North Africa, Italy, France, Austria, and Germany. After returning home to Chanute, Kansas, he married the love of his life, Mildred Simmons. Working for the ILC Products Company, he was asked to move to GA to manage the Montezuma manufacturing facility in 1967. He finished his working career with Bibb Manufacturing in 1985. Mr. Walker enjoyed bird hunting and skeet shooting as well as gardening and woodworking in his shop. He was a long-time member of Perry United Methodist Church and attended Perry Presbyterian Church later in life. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Mildred Simmons Walker; two brothers; and a sister.
Left to cherish the memories of Mr. Walker are his son and daughter-in-law, Stephen R. and Betty Rose Walker of Atlanta; his grandsons, Brad Walker (Evangeline) of Atlanta, and Wes Walker of Beaufort, South Carolina; and a great-granddaughter, Emily Faye Walker.
