CHRISTINE LANGSTON MARTIN's Obituary
PERRY –
Christine Langston Martin passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2024, just a few weeks after her 99th birthday. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, in the Chapel at Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church Campground. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 12 Noon. The funeral will begin at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Campground Cemetery immediately following the service.
Christine was born in Armorel, Arkansas, to the late Marvin and Jewel Vance Langston. After high school, she completed coursework in Accounting at Massey Business College. In 1956, Christine moved to Atlanta and became a member of the Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church congregation there. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years and also served as the Church Secretary. Additionally, she was the editor of The Comforter, the newspaper for Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church, for many years. Christine worked as a Supervisor in the Personnel Office in the U.S. Forestry Department and retired after twenty-five years of service. She enjoyed working and had a very strong work ethic. For nearly ten years, her part-time job was with Becker CPA where she was responsible for administering the Certified Public Accountant exam twice a year. Christine was a natural seamstress and a wonderful cook. She loved traveling to and visiting St. Augustine Beach multiple times a year when she could, and she also loved going to church wherever she was. She spent a great deal of time daily reading the Bible. She was very intelligent, knew scripture well, and was considered “quite the preacher.” In the late 1990’s, Christine moved to Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church Campground in Perry to be with her mother and remained there for the rest of her life.
Christine was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Norman Ray Langston, Sr.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Christine are her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Brenda Martin of Douglasville, Georgia; her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Mike Gray of Monroe, Georgia; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a niece; and a nephew.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
