Cherry was born on November 18, 1947. She attended Perry High School in Perry, Georgia. She thoroughly enjoyed dancing, smiley faces, quilting, and anything beach-themed. Cherry was so proud of and loved displaying her huge collection of Santa figurines and Christmas decorations.
“Some of my favorite memories with Grandmama were our long days of shopping at River Crossing in Macon, lunch dates at Arby’s, and baking brownies together.” -Lorene Parker, her granddaughter
“I will always remember how sweet my Grandmama was, and our memories of going to the movies together and our trip to Callaway Gardens. She always had a sarcastic response when necessary, something that definitely passed down in the family.” -Clinton Parker, her grandson
Cherry was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Inez Dooley Smith; her father, Virgil Smith; her sister, Patricia “Sue” Maurer; her half-brother, Leslie Smith; and her half-sister, Gloria Dean Smith.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Cherry are her loving and devoted husband, Joseph “Joe” Howard of Perry; her daughters, Karen Owen Parker (Mitchell), and Ronda Owen Smith; her grandchildren, Lorene Parker, Clinton Parker, and Owen Smith; and her sisters, Sandy Smith Rippere and Carol Smith Reid.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
