Charles T. Davis, 86, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the Church Home, with his loving family by his side. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Christ's Sanctified Holy Church with interment in the Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the Chapel on the campground at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Mr. Davis was born in Birmingham and was the son of the late Pete T. and Lera Jernigan Davis.
He had lived on the campground for 19 years moving from Atlanta, where he worked for Emory University as a plasterer, painter, and sheetrock installer. Prior to Atlanta, he lived in Norfolk where he was general plasterer contractor. A very quiet man, he had a love for music and singing, especially southern gospel music, and had been in many quartets including "The Songsmen".
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years, Marie H. Davis of Perry; children, Charlie of Blue Ridge, Georgia, Anita of Gwinnette County, Janice Horn of Walton County, Sheilla Robertson of Perry, and Dora Cruce of Logansville; brother, Marvin Davis of Perry; nine grandchildern, and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Glenn Davis, Samuel Wayne Jones, and Dorothy Johnson.
