Charles Shipes' Obituary
Haynesville, GA-
Charles G. Shipes, 84, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2015, after a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2015, at 2:00 p.m at First Baptist Church of Haynesville. Interment will be in the church cemetery immediately following the service. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry. Reverend David Fisher will officiate.
Mr. Shipes was born in Unadilla to the late Joseph C. and Mary Giddens Shipes.
He had lived in Haynesville most of his life, was a retired tractor mechanic, and owned his own shop for over 30 years. A member of First Baptist Church of Haynesville, Mr. Shipes loved hunting, fishing, and bluegrass music. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Laura Frances Shipes; children, Ronnie Shipes, Donnie Shipes, and Bonnie Shipes; his sisters, Virginia Gray, Lowell Bembry, Geneva McDonald, and Mary Lou Griffith; and his brothers, Porter Shipes, Van Shipes, Franklin Shipes.
Left to cherish the memories of Mr. Shipes are his children, Connie Jackson and Johnnie Shipes, both of Haynesville; his grandchildren, Ella Shipes, Natasha Hooks, Danielle Jackson, Jamie Shipes (Brandi); a great-grandchild, Aubrey Grace Jackson; and his devoted caregiver, Chetkia Hare.
