PERRY -
Charles William Kelly, 82, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ's Sanctified Holy Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery immediately following the service. The family will greet friends on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., just prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Kelly was born in Moultrie, Georgia, to the late Charlie Stripling "Strip" and Elsie Alderman Kelly. He was a lifetime member of Christ's Sanctified Holy Church. He was a long-time resident of Charleston, South Carolina, where he owned and operated a successful floor covering business. He was a hard-working man and gave his whole effort to everything he attempted. At CSHC in Charleston, he was a highly-respected Sunday School Superintendent for many years and was a strong supporter of the Children's Bus Ministry. He relocated to the CSHC Campground in Perry nearly 10 years ago. Charles was a devoted husband and father, a caring man with a gentle soul. He always had a bright smile and a firm handshake, and he will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn Kelly; his son, John Michael Kelly; his sister, Mary Ellen Copeland; and a nephew, Marc Welch.
Left to cherish the memories of Charles are his sister, Lawanna Welch of Ft. Valley; his nephews, Michael Welch (Chrissy) of Centerville, and Glenn Copeland (Anita) of Ft. Valley; his niece, Barbara Bedwell (Eddie) of Raleigh, NC; and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
