CHARLES GARY JONES's Obituary
PERRY –
Charles Gary Jones, 76, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 11, 2023, after unexpected complications from a recent surgery. Services will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Haynesville. Visitation will be at 2:00 p.m. and the Funeral will be at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Winfred Huff officiating. Private Graveside Services will be held for the family in the cemetery at First Baptist Church of Haynesville. Flowers will be gratefully accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Haynesville, 2953 U.S. Highway 341, Hawkinsville, GA 31036.
A lifelong resident of Houston County, Gary was born in Hawkinsville to the late C.A. and Frances Parker Jones. A 1964 graduate of Perry High School, he continued his education at Miami-Dade College in Florida where he earned an Associate’s Degree. For nineteen years, Gary worked as a forklift operator at Pabst Brewing Company. After it closed, he accepted a position with Boeing where he was a sheet metal fabricator for over twenty years. Gary loved God and was a member of First Baptist Church of Haynesville. He recently chose to be baptized with his grandson, John, which was a huge blessing for their family. Through the years, it was obvious that Gary naturally had a “green thumb” and enjoyed gardening, both inside his home with various house plants and outside his home keeping the lawn neatly trimmed and nurturing the landscape that he planted and developed. His generous heart shined each time he would cut grass and care for neighboring yards, leaving an example of giving to the community for his children and grandchildren. Bingo was his game of choice, and he could be found playing at least two or three times a week, particularly after retirement. One of his favorite past times was photographing butterflies and flowers, but it gave him the most joy to take pictures of his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, for they were his passion in life.
Gary was predeceased by his loving and devoted wife of forty-four years, Bobbi Burchette Jones; a grandson, Joey Huckaby; a great-granddaughter, Araya Marshall; and a brother-in-law, Tom Thornton.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Gary are his children, Chris Noteware (Terri), Michelle Soley, and Cindy Noteware Graham (Mike), all of Perry, Vicki Clark (Chuck) of Lizella, and Ray Noteware and Billy Jones, both of Perry; his grandchildren, John Jones, Angel Noteware, Franklin Clark (Caitlyn), Sidney Clark, Molly Cromer (Zach), Ansley Carruthers (Jack), Jada Bradford (Dalton), and Tessa Marshall; eight great-grandchildren; his siblings, Brenda Strom (Curtis) of Fort Valley, and Wendy Thornton of Elko; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
