Charles Bonner's Obituary
OXFORD, GA-Charles Wesley Bonner, Sr., 94, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2016. Visitation will be on Monday, October 10, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. in the Family Room in the Sanctuary Building at Christ's Sanctified Holy Church in Perry. Funeral Services will also be on Monday, October 10, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel at Christ's Sanctified Holy Church in Perry. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery immediately following the service. Mr. Bonner proudly served our country as a Corpsman in the U.S. Navy during World War II. A Builder and Developer in the Atlanta area, he owned and operated Bonner Homes, Inc. for many years. In his younger days, he liked to hunt and fish. He continually influenced his family to exercise and stay fit. He loved to excercise. He started running in his 40's and converted to walking at age 72, and continued walking regularly until age 87. He was a long-time member of Christ's Sanctified Holy Church and a founding member of the CSHC in Decatur, where he was a Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Bonner started and directed the choir there in the early 1960's. He loved music, listening to it and playing it, on piano and guitar. He also sang in a quartet for years. Mr. Bonner also enjoyed reading, and was an avid reader throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Corrinne Britt Bonner; his brothers, Dan Bonner, Tom Bonner, and Otho Bonner; and his sister, Flora Bonner Smith. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Bonner of Snellville; his children, Sylvia Bonner Brush (Edgar) of Lawrenceville, Judith Bonner Lockhart (Wayne) of Oxford, Patsi Bonner Shaw (Ray) of Porter, Texas, and Wes Bonner (Beth) of Spring Hill, Tennessee; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; his sister, Mary Bonner Merritt; his brother, Oscar Bonner; and many nieces and nephews.
