Life Legacy
Charlene Skipper Booker, 71, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 21, 2017. A Service will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry. The family will greet friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 27, 2017, the hour before the service, at the funeral home. Mrs. Booker was born in Macon County, Georgia, to the late William Ellis and Jessie Newberry Skipper. She was a career Army wife. She had the unique opportunity of traveling the world with those she loved and making a home for her family wherever the Army sent them. She taught her family how to embrace local cultures and learn new things every day in foreign countries. After retirement, Mrs. Booker settled in Smithville, Georgia, where she took great pride in her vegetable garden. Sharing the bounty, as well as the burden, with all who would partake, she made sure everyone got a little something from her garden. Later, Mrs. Booker relocated to Marshallville, Georgia, where she spent as much time as she could with family and friends. She was a wonderful mother, sister, and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Davis Booker Jr.; and her siblings, Jackie Skipper, William Ellis Skipper, Jr., Louis Skipper, and Louise George.Left to cherish the memory of Charlene are her children; Dwight Booker (Karen) of Brandon, FL, Donnice Thompson (Donald) of Kingsland, GA, and Duane Booker of Brandon, FL; her sister, Norma Jean Kusuda (Wilfred); her grandchildren, Tyler Booker (Erin), Taylor Booker (Donald), Bryant Thompson, and Jenna Thompson; her great-granddaughter, Leighton Kate Booker; and her sister-in-law, Barbara Skipper.
