PERRY-
Catherine Wood Johnson departed from this life on June 15, 2013, at age 93. She was born in Fitzpatrick, GA, and reared in Macon, GA, at the Methodist Home for Children. After graduating from Miller High School, she attended Andrew College in Cuthbert, GA, before marrying the love of her life, Joseph Van Johnson, in 1940. Mrs. Johnson was Assistant Store Manager and Treasurer of her husband's company, Johnson Stores, Inc., of Ft. Valley and Perry, GA, from 1940 until their retirement in 1983. Mrs. Johnson was an active member of Perry United Methodist Church, which she served as a member of the Women's Missionary Society and President of the Susannah Wesley Sunday School Class for three terms. An avid student of genealogy, Mrs. Johnson was proud of her descent from the veterans of the American Revolution and the War Between the States.
