Carrie W Collins' Obituary
Carrie W. Collins, age 76, a native of Virginia and a longtime resident of Irvington, AL passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014. Carrie was a past Worthy The Matron of Eastern Star and a past Noble Grand of The Rebecca’s. She was a Princess in Nansemond Indian Tribe and a Designation Princess White Dove. In 1967 she was sited as a foster mom in Chesapeake Virginia. Carrie raised 26 foster children and 2 children of her own. She was a longtime member of 1st Baptist Church of Irvington, AL. Carrie was known as the unofficial title of Thursday Lady in Tillman’s Corner to those who knew her. Carrie was a devoted wife of 54 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Lucille Bass, brothers, Joe and Jessie Bass. She is survived by her husband, R.S. “Bud” Collins, children, Reginald S. Collins III, Claudia J. Hawkins, L.C. Melson, grandchildren, Jessie Kountz, Kiera Delenn Collins, Sabrina Nicole Collins, Braxton Lee Esfeller, siblings, Clara Land of Chesapeake Virginia, Peggy Hatton of New Jersey, Bobby Bass of Chesapeake Virginia, Sandra Garner of Chesapeake Virginia, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of Irvington on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 2 pm with visitation starting at the church 12 noon until service time. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens.
