Carolyn V Snyder passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2014 in Macon, Georgia. She was born
September 16, 1921 in Lockhart, Alabama, to Elmer and Nuna B. VanLandingham. Carolyn was a graduate of Covington County High School in Florala, Alabama, and Grady Hospital School of Nursing in Atlanta. She worked as a nurse in Florida for a number of years. While a resident of Kingsport, Tennessee, for 22 years, Carolyn was a Red Cross nurse volunteer-planning and teaching community nursing classes and volunteering at Holston Valley Hospital in the blood bank and as a Pink Lady. Carolyn was on the Red Cross Board of Directors for six years. In 1983, the Kingsport-Ft. Hawkins Chapter of the American Red Cross voted her a special award for her 17 years of service, citing her "willing spirit...love of people...and high professional standards." A resident of Perry, from 1960 - 1964 and from 1986 to the present, Carolyn volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program for a number of years. She was a member of the Perry Presbyterian
Church and the Eunice Ramage Circle.
Mrs. Snyder is pre-deceased by Andrew J. Snyder, her loving husband of 66 years. She leaves behind on son, Michael (Melissa) of Wilmington, North Carolina; a daughter, Andrea Lasseter (Al) of Perry; grandsons, Drew Lasseter, David (Heather) Lasseter of St. Petersburg; great grandchildren, Evan, Emily, Elizabeth Lasseter, and Harper Leigh Lasseter; a brother, Richard M Stroud of New Market, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Perry Volunteer Outreach, Meals on Wheels, or Perry Presbyterian Church Children's Ministry.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Watson-Hunt Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2014. The family will greet friends at the funeral home between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m.
