The visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., and the funeral will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Edward Bryan officiating. Carolyn was born to the late William H. Parris and Lillian O. Hampton Parris on July 11, 1942 in Albertville, Alabama. Her parents fostered a great love for family, and Carolyn extended that love as she had her own four children. Her fondest memories were made with her family, especially at holiday gatherings. She also enjoyed travelling with them, spending time with her mother and sisters on their many mountain getaways. She had a beautiful marriage spanning four decades with Franklin Speicher Sr. and made many memories with him by her side.
Outside of her home, Carolyn served many patrons as a waitress at the New Perry Hotel. She had a natural servant’s heart, and she took great pride in serving her many customers in the heart of downtown Perry.
Carolyn spent her spare time in the company of her friends, especially Ms. Helma Stubbs. They spent many days together and could often be found at local thrift stores searching for unique antiques and treasures.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings; Loyd Parris, William Parris, Jesse Parris, and Joyce Shuman, her stepson; Franklin Eugene Speicher Jr., her daughter-in-law; Brenda Stephenson, granddaughter; Christie McConnell, great-grandson; Clayton Stephenson, and her dear friend; Helma Stubbs.
Left to cherish the memories they made together are her husband of 41 years, Franklin Eugene Speicher, Sr. of Perry, her children; David Stephenson (Deirdre) of Plains, GA, Dale Stephenson of Murfreesboro, TN, Diana Reynolds (Buster) of Gray, GA, and Donnie Stephenson (Tammie) of Perry, GA, her siblings; Geneva Berry of Cedartown, GA, Faye Rudeseal of Cedartown, GA, Reba Swafford (Ray) of Rockmart, GA, Roger Parris (Lynn) of Cedartown, Georgia, Cathy Ogle of Cedartown, GA, ten grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Lisa, Brittany, and Jessica with Hospice Care Options. Their love and care in this difficult time has been a great comfort to those who loved Carolyn.
Condolences may be left for the family in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com.
