Carol Lewis Stewart's Obituary
PERRY –
Carol Stewart, 79, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2019, after an extended illness. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home which will be followed by a Graveside Service at 3:00 p.m. at Perry Memorial Gardens.
Carol was born on August 4, 1939, to the late Gerald and Florence Gene Lewis in Muncie, Indiana, and grew up in Gaston. She married at a very young age, and immediately began having a family. They moved to Richmond, Indiana, where she lived most of her life. Carol’s home was the home where her children’s friends and the neighborhood kids would hang out. She took pride in the fact that her home was always full of life and love. When her children were growing up, Carol enjoyed singing with the King’s Road Quartet at Faith Baptist Church in Richmond for years. Carol adored and lived for her children. After they started school, she began working in various nursing homes in Indiana and Georgia as a general assistant and a chef. She even worked for a time at Hardee’s making biscuits every morning. Carol treasured the time spent with each and every family member, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 2007, she moved to Georgia to be with her daughters, spending most of her time in Springfield and eventually living the last seven months of her life in Perry. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Nancy Jean Rich; and two brothers, Dick Lewis and Bill Lewis.
Left to cherish the memories of Carol are her children, Ray Rich of Macon, Randy Rich (Liz) and Roger Rich (Debbie), both of Richmond, Indiana, Robin Rich of Springfield, and Lisa Ansley (Bill) of Perry; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her “adopted daughter,” Diane Murray.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
