Captain Alton Ray Nelson Sr.'s Obituary
Captain Alton Ray Nelson Sr., age 73, a lifelong resident of Bayou La Batre, AL died at home surrounded by his family on Monday, September 14, 2015. He was preceded in death by his infant twin daughters, Helen and Ellen, parents, Otto and Marie Nelson, brother, Frederick Nelson, mother-in-law, Helen Bosarge, father-in-law, Urban Bosarge. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce, children, Ray (Sherri), Gary, Rhonda (Floyd) Johnson, Robert (Michelle), Darla (Scott) Meredith, Sheila (Edgar) Burt, brothers, Danny (Diane) Nelson and Jimmy Nelson, 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and devoted dog Copper. Funeral service will be held at St. Margaret Catholic Church on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 11 am with visitation starting at 9 am until service time. Interment will be in Oddfellow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Margaret’s Ladies Sodality.
