Captain Milton Perry Zirlott's Obituary
Age 90, of West Fowl River passed into eternity early in the morning of April 20. 2016. He was the son of Ellis and Nettie Rhodes Zirlott. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert (Rob) Zirlott and granddaughter, Teri Zirlott. He is survived by the love of his life for 70 years, Rosalie “Midge” Zirlott, children, Perry (Jan), Russell (Linda), Joyce Zirlott, and Diane (Mike) Lumpkin, grandsons, Kurt (Mandy) and Brandon Tillman, Blake (Jessica) and David (Steenie) Zirlott, Chad Zirlott, and Tadd Gobert, granddaughters, Kim (Butch) Guimond, Angie (Jason) Brown, Chassidy Bosarge, Lindsay Landry- Snell(Kent), and Christian Lumpkin, nineteen great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. As a member of the Navy Seabees, he served in WWII on Okinawa and Guam. He spent his entire life working as a commercial fisherman and managed his fleet of shrimp boats. He was a soft spoken, hard-working man, while filling both the roles of Captain on his boats and Patriarch to a large family. He was also known as Milt, Captain, Cap, Daddy, Papa, and Pop. His family meant the world to him and he always welcomed their frequent visits to his home. He taught many young people, by his example, how to make a living working the waters of the Gulf while still being a dedicated husband and father. Mr. Zirlott was a life long member of Zirlott Road United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family ask that Memorials may be made to his church. Services will be Sat., April 23, 2016 at Serenity Gardens from 12 - 2 PM with services following in the chapel. Burial following in Dorlon Cemetery.
