The family will receive friends the hour before the service, from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. A private burial will be held in Andersonville National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Aaron Lee Gray. Flowers will be gratefully accepted or memorial contributions made in memory of Brenda to Heritage Baptist Church, 257 Lake Joy Road, Perry, GA 31069.
Brenda was born on June 1, 1943, in LaGrange, Georgia, where she grew up and graduated from LaGrange High School. Brenda spent her life caring for others, as a homemaker, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother. Her days began and ended with reading a devotional and cleaning her family-centered home, preparing herself and her surroundings for the Lord’s blessings, or the occasional trials, that she would face. Brenda worked tirelessly to create a warm, inviting, and caring environment for her family, whom she loved dearly, and their friends. However, to her, she never worked a day in her life, as she loved every minute of being a homemaker. An excellent cook, Brenda was known for her divinity and fudge, her grandchildren’s birthday cakes, cupcakes, and cookies. Making every holiday special for her family was a passion, and preparing holiday treat bags for them, as well as the neighborhood children, were traditions at Brenda’s. She was the epitome of a true Southern belle, always dressed and ready, classy in every way. Brenda was a member of Heritage Baptist Church where she attended faithfully until her health began to decline. She also enjoyed visiting The Grove Church with her granddaughters from time to time. Whenever it was, through sickness and in healthy times, Brenda was always a wonderful example of a Christian lady who will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Brenda was predeceased by her parents, Hubert John Griggs and Mary Louise (Murphy) Griggs; and her faithful husband, Aaron Lee Gray.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Brenda, lovingly referred to as “Nana,” are her devoted children, Danny Daws (Nancy) of Hartwell, Donna Brown (Pitts Lowman) of Perry, and Dr. Angie Hambrick (Mitch) of Perry; her grandchildren, Valarie Allen (Jonathan), Kayla Arce (Isaac), Josh Daws, Brittany Turner (Johnathan), Cally Pospisil (Will), Hayley Karros, Abigail Karros, Logan Hambrick, and Addie Hambrick; her great-grandchildren, Oakleigh Allen, Owen Allen, Gideon Richards, Amy Turner, Jackson Turner, Gray Pospisil, and Reid Pospisil; her sister, Barbara Smith of LaGrange; her nieces and nephews, Bill Smith (Nancy), Kim Jackson, and Tim Smith (Stacye) and their families; and her bonus children, Tracy Gray and Shirley Mann and their families.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at https://www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
