BRENDA GRANT BLALOCK's Obituary
PERRY –
Brenda Faye Grant Blalock, 78, passed away peacefully on Monday night, March 2, 2026, after an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the service at 12 Noon. Interment will be in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. Flowers will be gratefully accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Brenda was born in LaGrange, Georgia, on June 3, 1947. She was always very smart as a child, and her intelligence allowed her to skip a grade in high school. She graduated from Griffin High School in 1964. Soon after, she joined and proudly served her country in the U.S. Marine Corps. After her return from the military, Brenda was a homemaker for many years, always working to create a loving and encouraging environment for her children. When they were in high school, she accepted a position with Proctor and Gamble, where she worked as a security guard. After moving to Roswell, Georgia, Brenda began working for AVIL, a pharmaceutical manufacturer, where she assisted in the lab with assembling test kits.
Brenda was a lifelong avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. In fact, her great-grandson is named Dallas. Brenda loved all sports. Through the years, she could be found reading her Sports Illustrated, to which she had a monthly subscription for many years. She followed the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs and could often quote statistics of many ball players. Brenda always loved working in her yard, planting and nurturing flowers and plants. Each summer, she canned vegetables to be able to provide fresh vegetables for her children throughout the year. Later in life, when her health began to decline, Brenda still enjoyed watching sports and spent time assembling puzzles. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Brenda was predeceased by her father, John Grant; her mother, Lois Carter Grant Dennis; her siblings, Caroyn Lunsford, Linda Grant Smith, Judy Jordan, Roger Grant, Charlie Grant, Michael Grant, Edward Grant, Curran Grant, Kyle Grant, and Diane Grant.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Brenda are her children, Richard Blalock (Tracey) of Warner Robins, and Lisa McDougald Yates (Leon) of Tampa, Florida; her grandchildren, Hannah Blalock, Hunter Blalock, Macy McDougald Patterson (Jeremiah), John Shepherd, and Brittany Lyke; her great-grandchildren, Dallas Patterson, Emory Lyke, and Cilas Lyke; her brother, Ricky Bowles (Tammy); and a great many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
