BOBBIE DOTSON MIZELL's Obituary
PERRY –
Bobbie Page Dotson Mizell, 79, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. At present, no formal memorial service is being planned. A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Wounded Warriors, 4899 Belfort Road Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
Bobbie was born on December 1, 1944, to the late Catesby and Daisy Dotson. Born and raised in Paris, Kentucky, her teen years were spent in Xenia, Ohio, near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. She moved to Perry, Georgia, when her father was transferred to Robins Air Force Base. After just one year there, she graduated from Perry High School. Bobbie spent her career as a bookkeeper and office manager, but it was her family that she enjoyed the most. Spending time with them gave her such joy, and she was a caregiver for them, too. Her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Grammy,” loved staying with her while their parents worked every day. And while Bobbie spent many years caring for babies and toddlers, she moved in with her mother for the last eleven years of Mrs. Daisy’s life to assist and support her mother through her final years.
Bobbie was an amazing, special lady – quite the woman, in fact. She was easy-going with a hippie spirit that some may even call a “free bird.” She was always very welcoming to her friends and her children’s friends and made everyone feel comfortable. She saw the best in everyone and would spend quality time with people, making them feel special and allowing them a safe haven to share private details of their lives. Bobbie’s wit and friendly personality were constantly evident with the smile on her face. While she had been feeling the effects of aging in recent years, she was truly at peace with leaving her earthly home to be reunited with her parents in Heaven. According to her family, Bobbie’s farewell remarks would likely be, “peace, love, and coffee.” She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Bob Gordon.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Bobbie are her devoted children, Brian Mizell and Amanda Mizell Scott (Andrew), both of Perry; her grandchildren, Laynie Mizell, Landri Mizell, Layla Mizell, and Brianna Delph; her sister, Lynn Gordon of Marana, Arizona; and a niece, Susan White (Robert), a nephew, Rob Opatrny (Cathie), and their families.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
