BILLY CARL McDANIEL SR.'s Obituary
PERRY, GA –
Billy Carl McDaniel, Sr., 77, of Perry, Georgia, formerly of Plant City, Florida, entered into eternal rest on May 17, 2020. A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 21 at 11:00 A.M. at East Oaklawn Cemetery, 1900 North Wheeler Street, Plant City, honoring his wishes of coming home to Plant City.
Billy was born in Alabama to the late Charles and Flora Gaffney McDaniel the 8th of 11 children. His father, born in 1895, and his mother, born in 1906, were sharecroppers who moved with horses pulling covered wagons from Alabama to Georgia then settled in Florida. He began working on the family farm at a young age to help support his family and, after some years, became a long-haul driver working for Carolina Trucking Company then ABF Trucking Company through the years. He was a former member of Tampa Teamsters Local Union 79 and retired after 31 years. Billy joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1972 and remained faithful to the church throughout his life. He was preceded in death by six sisters; three brothers; a son, Sean McDaniel; and a grandson, Jimbo Faught.
He is survived by his wife, Kristen McDaniel of Perry, GA; his children, Bill McDaniel, Jr. (Mercedes) of Plant City, FL, Robert McDaniel (Edelwina) of Plant City, FL, Carol McDaniel Powell of Orlando, FL, and Sharon Bagnall (Addam) of Garner, NC, and their mother, Carol Lee Perlaza of Beech Mountain, NC; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Wilson of Tampa; his step-children, Alan Schmitz (Ashley) of Warner Robins, GA, and Amber Elliott (Stephen) of Alpharetta, GA; six step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
