Mrs. Hammock was born in Houston County to the late Charlie Thomas and Clifford Sullivan Kersey. A life-long resident of Houston County, she was a 1963 Graduate of Perry High School, where she was crowned Homecoming Queen her senior year. She attended Mercer University. An entrepeneur at heart, Mrs. Hammock owned and operated Kersey Store for 10 years, then began Sharing Elegance Formal Wear in Henderson, now celebrating its 22nd year. She received numerous awards from designers in the formal wear industry. She will long be remembered for her personal assitance, selecting and fitting, and her generosity by many young women across the southeast attending proms or participating in pageants. A long-time member of Henderson Baptist Church, Mrs. Hammock served on various committees at the church through the years. She loved gardening, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Hammock truly had a servant's heart, as she took delight in caring for and giving to others. She was preceded in death by her sister, Vivian Kersey Blackstock.
Left to cherish the memories of Mrs. Hammock are her husband of 34 years, Carl Hammock of Henderson; her daughter, Stephanie Tinkey (David) of Macon; her step-sons, Phillip Hammock (Susan) and Danny Hammock, both of Lizella; her grandchildren, Grace Tinkey, Faith Tinkey, Christian Tinkey, Jessica Hammock, Cody Hammock, Collin Hammock, and Danielle Hammock; her brothers, Tommy Kersey (Joan), Leighton Kersey (Pam), and Wendell Kersey (Judy); her step-mother, Betty Ragan Kersey; her mother-in-law, Lucile Hammock; and a host of nieces and nephews.
