BETTY CANELLE's Obituary
PERRY –
Betty Lou Llewellyn Canelle passed away on February 12, 2024. She is mourned by her family and friends, but they are comforted knowing she is now reunited with her beloved husband, John Canelle. Betty and John were married in 1973 and he died in 2004.
As long as health allowed, Betty was an active member of Perry United Methodist Church and particularly enjoyed the “Joy Choir.” She had a beautiful voice and truly loved to sing. Betty maintained a modern lifestyle well into her 90's. She had her own Facebook page, loved the latest fashions, and loved to socialize. She was the bright spot of any gathering because she loved people, and she loved to talk. To have a conversation with Betty was to have an enjoyable interlude in your day.
Betty and John moved to Perry in 1993 and she lived in their house on Cooper Street until she was well into her 90's. At that point she moved into assisted living at The Phoenix. She loved her home on Cooper Street and was pleasantly surrounded by thoughtful neighbors there. Betty is remembered as a strong and vital person who blessed the lives of those around her. She is missed.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of thirty-one years, John Canelle; her sisters, Norma Cunningham and Margie Llewellyn; and a son-in-law, Dickie Bryant.
Survivors include her children, David Lee Paulk III (Carla) of Canyon, TX. Susan Potts (Bill) of Perry, and Margie Bryant of Fitzgerald; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Pat Donahue (Frank) of Washinton, NJ; a brother, David Llewellyn of Colorado; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to an organization to which Mrs. Betty regularly contributed – St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
