Bessie Lee Harmon Prowell's Obituary
Mrs. Bessie Lee Harmon Prowell, a native of Uniontown, Al and a resident of Mobile, AL was born into the union of the late Mr. Leroy and Fleecy Harmon. Mrs. Prowell was a member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Deaconess Ministry, Senior Ushers Ministry, Missionary Ministry, Pastor’s Helpers Ministry as well as the Culinary Ministry. She was a member of the Hillsdale Community S.A.I.L program. She was a homemaker, and formerly employed with the Sage Avenue Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, James Williams; three sisters, Lillian Phillips, Alice Brown and Ruth Walker.She leaves to cherish her memories a loving and devoted husband of 64 years, James Walter Prowell, Sr.; eight children, James Walter (Brenda) Prowell, Jr., Morris Prowell, Sharron Prowell, Dexter (Yolanda) Prowell, Shelia Prowell, Shirley Prowell, Sherry (Elvin) Muse and Judy Kimbrough. Nineteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; one great aunt, Irma Hines, Uniontown, AL; one brother-in-law, Lewis Walker, Uniontown, AL; a host of nieces and nephews, two very devoted, William Billy (Claudia) Phillips, Burr Ridge, Illinois and Janice Catelin, Uniontown, AL ; devoted friends and neighbors, Mrs. Willie Earl Lilly and Mrs. Mary Alice Fowlkes, three devoted god-daughters; Glenda (Eugene) Rankins, Iris (Alfred) Thompson and Victoria Scott; two devoted god-sons, Sanford (Deidra) Craig and John (Jay) Payne, Jr., one special son, Dan BoykinsWe invite friends to join us in a celebration of her life on Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 9am until the 11am funeral hour at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 545 Cody Road North, Mobile, AL.
