Bessie Luthene Goode Herston's Obituary
Bessie Luthene Goode Herston, age 84, born December 21, 1930, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed into the arms of Jesus in her home Saturday, October 31, 2015. She was a native of Lauderdale County, AL and a longtime resident of Grand Bay, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Harold Herston, mother, father and eight brothers and sisters. She leaves behind five children, Beverly (Jim) Aldrich, Linda (John) Guy, Kathy Payne, Steve (Nannette) Herston, and Tim Herston, grandsons, Jimmy (Heather) Herring, Craig (Jessica) Herring and John Payne, great grandchildren, Cade, Brennan and Bella Herring, sister, Peggy (Ron) Romine, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Known by many as Lou, she was a longtime member of Friendship Baptist Church in Grand Bay. She worked many years for Sears and later for Walmart where she had many friends. She loved her children and grands and worked hard all her life to provide for all their needs and many of their wants. She lived many of her last years in pain from arthritic knees but we know she can now dance with Daddy in heaven. We rest in the assurance that this is not a period in our lives but only a comma. Funeral service will be held at Serenity Funeral Home on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 12 noon with visitation starting at 10 am until service time. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens Wall of Honor.
