Barbara Peavy Rainey, 66, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, after a brief illness. The family will visit with friends on Friday, August 17, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at The Vine Church with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to The Vine Church, 504 Marshallville Road, Perry, Georgia 31069. Barbara grew up in Dooly County and met the love of her life, Mack Rainey, at a young age while getting an ice cream at Dairy Queen in Perry. The couple was soon married and chose Perry for their family’s home. For ten years, she worked at Security Finance as the Assistant Manager. Barbara’s family was the focus of her life. She had one son and followed him in his sporting events all the way through his high school years hardly ever missing a game. A hard-working lady with a servant’s heart, she was always taking care of everyone else. She loved to cook for everyone and enjoyed cleaning house, making the perfect environment for her family and friends. Barbara treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren. She was a member of The Vine Church, and she loved her church and her church family. She was preceded in death by her mothers, Erma Mullis Sears and Cara Lee Peavy; her father, Calvin Peavy, Sr.; her brothers, Dwain Peavy and Kenny Brown; her sister, Sandra Jackson; and her brothers-in-law, Randy Warren and Johnny Singletary. Left to cherish the memories they made with Barbara are her loving and devoted husband of 48 years, Mack Rainey of Perry; her son and daughter-in-law, Dustin and Kaitlin Rainey of Perry; her grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as “Grammy,” Sarah Ann Rainey and Weston Rainey; her siblings, Merrell Peavy (Pat), Debra Warren, Larry Brown (Karen), Dale Singletary, Diane Daniels, Calvin Peavy, Jr., Marty Peavy, and Jason Peavy (Tricia); her sister-in-law, Janet Peavy; and many, many nieces and nephews. Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
