Arthur Loewen's Obituary
Arthur H. Loewen, Jr. , 69, was killed suddenly in a car accident on impact by another driver near Mohab, Utah, on Friday, August 16, 2013, while on a lengthy, multi-state vacation with his wife and sister-in-law. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. in Perry Memorial Gardens.
Arthur was born on July 17, 1944, to Arthur Harold Loewen, Sr. and Virginia Wood Loewen in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a 1962 graduate of Watonga, Oklahoma High School, attended Oklahoma State University, then began a career with the Kellwood textile industry spanning over 25 years. He then began working as an independent insurance agent until his retirement. Arthur served as Perry Chamber of Commerce President in 1987. He was active on the Military Affairs Committee and was on the Board of Directors for Middle Georgia Technical College, The Museum of Aviation at Robins Air Force Base, and the Middle Georgia Girl Scouts. Arthur was a member of Perry United Methodist Church.
Arthur married the love of his life, Linda Smith Loewen, on January 31, 1963. Born of that union were two children, Jeffrey Arthur Loewen (Laura) and Tracy Liane Loewen Hill (Cale), both of Perry; five grandchildren, Brandon Loewen, Dalton Hill, and Connor Hill, all of Perry, Steven Smith of Dothan, Alabama, and Stephanie Smith Duckworth (Bryan) of Perry; and two great-grandsons, Hunter Smith of Dothan and Brody Duckworth of Perry. Also surviving Arthur are his sisters, Clara Loewen Sitter (Les) of Littleton, Colorado, and Polly Loewen Oliver (Jim) of Norman, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arthur was a good man who was loved by and will be missed by so many. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests donations be made to St. Mary's Hospital Foundation, P. O. Box 1628, Grand Junction, Colorado 81502 or the charity of the donor's choice.
