Anne was born on September 25, 1937, in Ellaville to the late Abner and Odell Ray Hambrick. She was a 1955 graduate of Unadilla High School. Shortly after graduation, Anne married the love of her life, Orren Linward Carroll. They settled in Perry when he accepted a position with Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base. Anne spent her life as a wonderful homemaker, always striving to create a loving and encouraging environment in which to raise their family. Early in their marriage, the couple became charter members of Second Memorial Baptist Church when they joined with several other couples to create a new place of worship for their families. From the beginning, Anne was actively involved in every aspect of church, from cooking meals and visiting others, to showing compassion to those grieving or simply going through rough times. She was a selfless lady with a servant’s heart, continuously taking care of others before herself. When her husband passed away at a young age, Anne was left to raise her family alone, and she did that with such grace and determination. She exemplified the values described in Proverbs 31. According to her children, she was born to be a Mom, lovingly referred to as “Mama.” When her family began to grow, she became known as “Nana” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her family was her biggest passion in life. She went to as many school activities and sporting events that she could. Anne left behind an incredible legacy and will live on in the hearts of the people she touched throughout her life.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Evan Hambrick, Jack Hambrick, Mitchell Hambrick, Charles Hambrick, and Ray Hambrick; her sisters, Colema Taylor, Sarah Beavers, and Frances Bowen; and her loving and devoted husband of thirty-one years, Orren Linward Carroll.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Anne are her daughter, Lynne Knepper (Gary) of Carrollton; her sons, Greg Carroll of Perry, and Paul Carroll (Teri), also of Perry; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; her sister, Marjorie Moore of Perry; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
